Tennis Doubles - The 7 Keys To Success

This is good stuff and it includes one of my favorite quips: "Doubles is not two players playing singles on a doubles court." Boo f'ing yah!

Congratulations Girls

Congratulations Girls. We already qualified for the City Tournament April 26th, but we have a regular season match left, so let's take 'em down and head to State again.

We have a BYE this coming week before our final match so we will have practice on April 2nd at 6p at the courts at Fran's neighborhood over in Shady Canyon. Give it your best! Those Girls from Laguna love to play, but they love winning a hell of a lot more.

Betty is already looking into accommodations for State and Regional as she usually does. Thanks Miss B.

Great Call Betty - Brides and Bits

Let's thank Betty for demanding a forfeit from Brides and Bits on the rain make-up.

When you girls make an effort to meet on an already rescheduled make-up, on the opponents turf, and only two courts show - what is that? Booyah, they get a big fat F for effort.

I don't know what's up with this team from Ladera Ranch. I get the whole Brides and Bits play on words, but I have yet to see a thoroughbred on their courts. Must be keeping 'em on the Back-Forty.

The American Red Cross Needs Us

As if we didn't already leave enough blood on court against Femme Fatale.

Due to the recent wildfires and other events the Red Cross has not been able to collect as much blood as usual and are expecting potential for more fires in the coming months.

I am a regular donor and was contacted by my local office to come in to donate.

I told them I would see if I could get the team out coming this Saturday, the 30th.

I know this isn't for everyone, but we are planning on going after Doubles Clinic which would put us there at 10a. Please comment here if you can go and I will take care of the rest.

Lou Strings already said he is going and I am putting the word out to the All Mixed Up gang. Afterwards, we are planning on going to lunch at this little bistro around the corner from the Red Cross.

Bitten - Femme Fatale

I guess that win against the Housewives left us with the Victory Hangover or were those girls from Femme Fatale just that damn good? They were.

Elvira switched the line-up while I left ours set and we still got waxed as a team, but Anita and RiRi took down the Goth Girls at #3 (actually #1) in two sets while the rest of us were clawing to hang on in three. We have to recap that match to see what you girls did.

Rita took her match and Dawn nearly took hers with just a 5-7, 6-3, 8-10 loss.

Congrats to Betty and Racquelt for taking #2. I don't know what happened in the first set, but you girls definitely had fun in the last two. Fran and I would like to blame stealing too many looks at their match for losing ours, but we can't. Jenn "I-Can't-Remember-The-Score" Carson and the "quiet girl" got in front of our game and we never caught up.

Video Review Meeting at 6:00am Monday in the Team Conference Room! Yeah right. I wish we had someone to videotape our matches. Nah.

Maybe Anita and RiRi can tell us what went wrong. They had a chance to see most of us play.

Let's all chat first before we hit the courts at Thursday's practice. Maybe we'll get Lou to work on our disabilities this Saturday.

Suck it up!

Tennis Doubles Strategies - How To Move At Net Without The Ball

Here is a nice video about movement at-net while not actually playing the ball.

There are many other, hundreds of times to be moving (positioning) during doubles play "without the ball", but this could be a point-winner.

Enjoy.
